Caprice invites you into a garden that plays by its own rules, where slender stems trail down from above, each one carrying three different blooms as though the laws of botany have been happily set aside. The stems are purposefully fine — barely there — so that nothing competes with the flowers themselves, which are rendered in vivid detail against the ground. Here and there, petals have loosened from their stems and drift downward in a gentle cascade, as if the garden is perpetually, softly letting go. Hand-painted on silk or gilded paper with optional embroidery and beading, Caprice brings a quality of quiet enchantment to any room it inhabits.
How much does a wallcovering cost?
Each commission is priced to the piece. The cost is calculated from the ground it is painted on, the area to be covered, the amount and type of painting the design calls for, and any embroidery or beading. Send us the room and the pattern you are drawn to, and we will work out the number.
How do I order wall coverings?
Fill out our inquiry form to begin the process. We’ll follow up with next steps based on your vision and needs.
Do you offer trade accounts?
Yes. We offer trade pricing for qualified interior designers and trade professionals.
Do you have wall coverings in stock?
No. Each wall covering is made to order for your specific space.
Can I customize a design or choose different colors?
Yes. You can choose your background (silk or gilded paper) and request custom color palettes for an added fee. We can match colors in your rug, trim, artwork, or furnishings.
What if I want something completely original?
We love custom projects. Original murals or patterns can be created based on your ideas or inspiration, with added design fees based on scope.
Do you sell by the roll?
No. Our wall coverings are only sold by the panel. Panel widths vary based on the material (41”-43”), and heights are customizable up to 12 feet.
What are the panels made of?
All designs are hand-painted on silk or gilded paper. Optional embellishments include embroidery with silk threads and beading with glass or metal beads.
Do they have a protective finish?
A protective varnish can be applied before or after installation. It may slightly darken the color and reduce the sheen, so it is a case-by-case decision. Sometimes clients choose to install a protective barrier of glass, for example, while young children are in the house.
What if I cannot install a wallcovering in my home?
Panels can also be framed and hung individually or as a series, ideal for temporary spaces or rental properties.
How long does it take?
Most commissions take 8 to 16 weeks from design approval and deposit, depending on the size of the piece and the amount of embroidery or beading. Samples take approximately 4 weeks. We give you a firm schedule with your quotation, once the design is settled and we know exactly what we are making. Rush work can sometimes be accommodated for an additional fee.
Do you offer samples?
Yes. Samples are made to order at two feet by three feet, starting at $200. Embroidered or beaded samples cost more. Like everything we make, a sample is painted for you rather than taken off a shelf, so it shows texture, color, and material rather than the full pattern or scale.
What does “tailored to your space” mean?
We customize the pattern layout to flow around doors, windows, fireplaces, and furniture placement. This service includes a detailed Elevation Panel Plan. Clients provide precise elevations, or we can measure your space (San Francisco Bay Area only for a fee).
How do I install the wall coverings?
We recommend a professional installer experienced with hand-painted panels. A detailed Installation Guide is provided with your order. We’re also happy to refer trusted specialists.
Can you help me find an installer?
Yes. If you don’t have one already, we’ll connect you with professionals who are familiar with our materials.
